The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

What's my favorite time of the year? Christmas? Easter? Thanksgiving? Although these are wonderful times to celebrate, none of them are my favorite. My favorite time of the year is what my family calls "Camp Tahkodah Weekend." It's the annual trip the Peters' Family takes up in Floral, Arkansas to Camp Tahkodah. We have been taking this trip every year since I was 9 or 10 (that's almost 20 years, for those who are counting). We go with 2 other families, the Chandlers and the Garners, who have become like my own family over the years. We laugh, sing, play cards, laugh some more, hike, eat, read, laugh more, cry, talk, and enjoy God's creation! Over the past few years, Aaron hasn't been able to join us because of his work schedule, but this year, he's coming, so I am even more excited about the trip!!! Please pray for us as we drive the 9 hour trip. I'll post pictures later. I love you all!!

Q&A with Kate

Okay, so I wasn't officially "tagged" but I saw these questions on my friend, Hannah's blog and thought they would be fun to do. Here they are:

  1. Talent you wish you had: I wish I could play guitar--it's on my "things to learn how to do before I die" list.
  2. What is your theme song? this is sooooo cheesy and I'm sure many women have this song--"The Way that I Am" by Martina McBride--to be loved exactly as I am is the most peaceful, wonderful place to be in life because I can be the most unloveable person imaginable!!
  3. Celebrity role model: Here's someone new that I look to as an example--Annie Oakley. She was able to take a stand for something bold and different for women of her time (shooting a gun), while being completely humble and modest, charming and feminine. THAT'S a real woman!
  4. Reality show you would most like to be on: The Biggest Loser, first as a contestant to lose a good 20 lbs, then return to the show as a trainer!
  5. Favorite book as a kid: I did not have as much of an appreciation for reading as a kid as I do now, but the first book I really enjoyed was "The Scarlet Letter" by Nathaniel Hawthorne. 11th grade English changed my life thanks to Ms. Tatum!!
  6. Dream job: a wife and mom.....check! Personal Trainer.....check! Interior Designer.....maybe in a few years!
  7. Secret dream job: Singer/Songwriter--Actually, I just wish I had a love of performing--I love to sing, but I don't like all the attention that comes with it.
  8. Any confessions? I only bathe my kids like 1-2 times per week!! I HATE getting on my hands and knees to wrestle with them while washing them!! It's like trying to wash three 35 pound dogs at one time.
  9. Add a question: What makes you cringe? I think I've addressed this before, but it's worth repeating. I cringe at the sight of tapered pants. No one except Barbie looked good in 80's fashions, why would we bring back that style? Ladies who wear tapered pants, I'm sorry, but most of you look like a bunch of walking ice cream cones (skinny at the ankles with a huge rear end). I am fully aware of my fashion inadequacies, but if you ever see me wearing tapered pants, let's have an intervention because I have hit rock bottom!!
  10. Tag 5: Everyone who reads this, answer the questions on your blog!
