In the spirit of not being a "comment slacker," I'm going to comment on more than one post today. LOL I actually allowed Bean to watch Old Yeller when she was 5. For us, it was a mistake. She was so upset by his death and couldn't get over that fact, even though Old Yeller had puppies and the cycle of life continued. SO, I think the bottom line is you have to gauge how sensitive your children are. A preparation talk about what the movie is about before you watch it, as well as a question and answer session afterwards might really help. If I had handled it differently, Bean might not have been as saddened by it. Old Yeller is a classic . . . I think death is inevitable and eventually our children will encounter it, so it can be a great segue into talking about some heavy issues . . . it's a wonderful movie with a great message, but I think it's worth talking about instead of popping it in and pressing "play".
I am the wife of a sexy business consultant, the mother of 3 children (a sweet little boy and twin girls), a personal trainer at a gym, and (by the Lord's grace) a child of God! Step into my world and I'll show you around...
