Blogging Low Self Esteem

I think some serious finger-wagging is in order. I'm quite disappointed because you guys have all been major comment slackers lately!! I mean, I'm not asking much...just a little acknowledgment that people are reading this blog. Yes, I know, it's summer and all. Being the very important people that you are, I know you are all very busy. I, on the other hand, am not important--I'm a little bit of a dork with no life, so comments on my blog are a ray of sunshine! For those of you who comment on this blog often, THANK YOU! As for the rest of you, maybe I should start getting more controversial here. Maybe I'll start up a few posts on religion and politics to get the comment ball rolling. Better yet, I'll do what my brother does--I'll play Devil's Advocate on big issues. I don't know--I guess I'll have to get more creative.

So, I'm asking you....what would like to see more of/less of on this blog? Let's hear it!

Tomorrow

This is totally random, but those of you who know me well will laugh. I grew up watching the movie "Annie" almost daily. I LOVED that movie--and still do. Everyone knows the song "Tomorrow" from the movie, right? Well, growing up, I loved that song and I would occasionally see my friends and random people just humming along and singing it for fun. This has always bothered me because 9 times out of 10, people would sing these words:

"Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow. You're ALWAYS a day away."

Now, me, being the controlling brat that I was, would be extremely bothered by this because I was convinced that the correct words went like this:

"Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow. You're ONLY a day away."

Years have gone by since I've even thought about this, but my kids have the new version of "Annie," which isn't quite as good as the first---I'm sorry, but Kathy Bates can't even TOUCH Carol Burnett as Ms. Hannigan. Anyhoooo, the kids were watching it this morning and the new Annie sang "Tomorrow." Then, the unthinkable happened....she said the dreaded "ALWAYS a day away" line! All those old feelings came back and I was a little bit upset about this. Then, I started to think, "Did the old Annie say "ALWAYS..." and I just got it wrong?" Surely not! Thanks to YOUTUBE, I found my answer pretty quickly. Check it out and see for yourself:

Off Duty

As of this morning at 6 am, I am officially off mommy duties for 1 week!! My parents so graciously took all 3 of my kids to "Camp Mimi and Pete" in Little Rock so that Aaron and I could get some stuff done. This morning, I made us a great breakfast with a hot cup of coffee and we sat and had a conversation uninterrupted!!! After he left for work, I sat and made out our menu for the week...uninterrupted. I also went to 4 different stores and got the best deals on what I needed without having to load and unload active preschoolers, one of which is always on the lookout for a chance to run away into the middle of the busy parking lot. And while I was out, I didn't feel the need to hurry back home to relieve a sitter. Ahhhhh, how wonderful this was!! So, if you care, which I'm sure you don't, here is our "to-do" list for the week:

1. Declutter my entire house!
2. Prep and sell unwanted items and clothing on eBay.
3. Do a faux finish paint job in hallway.
4. Paint stairway (steps and walls).
5. Finish painting all ceilings.
6. Paint green polka dots on girls' bedroom floor.
7. Enjoy my husband (go out for coffee, watch movies, exercise together, etc...).
8. Go to stores I'm never able to go to with children (antique stores, fabric stores, etc...)

We will surely miss our children while they are gone, but we'll also enjoy having just the 2 of us. Thank you, Lord, for such wonderful parents who are willing to serve our family so generously. Mom and Dad, you're the BEST!

More Wedding Pictures!

Here are more pictures from my brother, Sam's wedding in Arizona. It was so beautiful! The wedding took place at Boojam Tree, a Spanish villa-like place in Phoenix. It was breathtakingly gorgeous! All went well during the ceremony and the happy couple flew out to Boston a few days after to begin their new life together. May God bless Sam and Brooklynne!!

Mulberry Madness

These aren't the best pictures in the world because I snapped them quickly with sticky hands! We found 3 mulberry trees in our backyard and we have been taking advantage of all the free berries. It's great! We all know the old song, "Here We Go 'Round the Mulberry Bush..." Well, it turns out that mulberries actually do exist. They look just like blackberries and have such a nice taste. Since we found the trees, we've made mulberry smoothies, mulberry biscuits, mulberry pancakes, mulberry muffins, and mulberry and granola yogurt. Yum, yum! We have such an abundance of these, so if any of our Knoxville friends want to come over and gather some berries, come on over!

On another note, my wonderful brother, Sam, is getting married on June 7th to his lovely fiance, Brooklynne. We pack up and leave for Arizona Sunday morning. Actually, Aaron, the girls, and I leave for Little Rock Friday, then we all fly out to Arizona Sunday morning. Jack will not be joining us. He'll be busy getting spoiled rotten by Aaron's family here in Tennessee while the rest of us make the big trip ;) I'll get Beth (Aaron's mom) to take lots of pictures of Jack on his little vacation. We will all return on June 9th, so I might not be able to post anything until then. Please don't forget me, though!!! I'll post a nice blog with pictures from our trip and from the wedding. Everybody have a great weekend and a great first week of June.
